Show and Tell: Restoration of a Memory

So... two things on the plate this week.

Firstly, I'm going to shamelessly promote my new weekly photo challenge. You can read about it HERE.

As for the other half...

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the most adept when it comes to Photoshop (or in the case of my computer, Corel PaintShop Pro), but I have learned a few things. I have this really lovely photo of my mom's parents on their wedding day. The original is distorted and oddly coloured. I was playing around one day and turned this:

into this:

Not too shabby, eh? Now hop over to Mel's and see what everyone else brought to Show and Tell this week...

Very cool! When we get our next computer, photoshop is going to be on my wishlist.

Maybe next year...

wow that looks great!

Nice work! DH did something similar with our parents' and grandparents' wedding pictures for our wedding. Yours is cooler. Ours was black and white.

Wow, that is great. I get so frustrated whenever I try to self-teach those programs to myself.

Nicely done. It's amazing what you can get out of those old photos with a little tweaking.

Definitely not shabby! It's amazing how much sharper it looks too in the bottom photo.

Nice work! Photoshop is magic! (i.e. in the right hands it's wonderful, but it can be used for evil)

Lovely! I used to know how to use photoshop but that was years and years ago... I probably should look into the latest version!

Great edit!! I'm barely learning how to use PS (and for a mac at that! eep!) and it's amazing how you can transform a photo! Your photo is lovely! Will check out your challenge too!

I am super impressed!

You did a great job editing that pic!

Wow, for someone who thinks they aren't good at it, you did a great job touching up that old photo.

Happy ICLW :)

Quite impressive, indeed! I am in the same boat...I have no skills when it comes to Photoshop or any of the other programs. Should probably do some learning...

But your picture is great!

Awesome job! I'm a complete idiot when it comes to these programs but I'm going to have to learn. I have lots of photos to work on.

That's amazing! It's as if you breathed life back into it.

You did a great job! I love the pic, BTW. I love going through pics of my grandparents when they were young. It's like getting to know them in a whole new way.

This is really beautiful. I always wish, when looking at old family photos, that they didn't look quite so....decrepit. What you've done seems to capture the youth and beauty of those individuals. So cool.

The picture looks great ! I'm making slow progress trying to learn photoshop myself.

Its so fun looking through old photos.

Ooh. I'm impressed! I'm pretty terrible with photo editing software. I can get through the basics, and I even pretty clearly understand the more advanced concepts (being both a photographer and a computer-programmer type and a generally artsy-fartsy kind of person...), but I can never enact the more interesting ideas I have with Photoshop. Sigh. Someday, I'll take a class on it or something!

Wow! What a difference! I have always loved photoshop and programs like it, but I have never owned them... Adobe used to have a free version of PS online, but I just learned it was discontinued..

Anyway, that is a great photo touch up! Keep it up! =) Oh, and Happy ICLW!

Great job on the color correcting in the photo. It look really great. I received a box of slides from my grandparents once and found in it a stack of photos from my parent's wedding that they had never seen! How incredibly wonderful was that? I had fun taking off as much dust as I could on the original, scanning it and then fixing the rest of the dust and scratches and color correcting in photoshop. :-)
